The new competition system is even more true

The new competition system continues from last year’s planning. The 1.6T Macau Cup has fewer vehicles, so the competition system has not changed much. The traditional qualifying and main race are still used to select the Macau Grand Prix participants. As for the road car challenge, where the number of participants is increasing year by year, nearly 50 cars participated. Macau Motor Racing Club innovated a new racing system last year that is more rigorous, fairer and more challenging for drivers and teams. Nearly 50 cars will be divided into two groups in the form of fiber drawing. The two groups will take the lead in the first round of qualifying. The top 20 drivers in each group can enter the second round of qualifying. There are 40 cars in total. The car carries on. After the end, there will be a final with 40 cars, and the 40 drivers in the final can get points for A, B, C, and D respectively. Only the top 18 on the score scale can enter the Macau circuit.

The weather report for this week's competition indicated that it was the highest temperature since Lixia 2018, reaching 34.7°, and the practice period on the schedule was all tormented by the heat. Five minutes before the start of the qualifying session, there was a heavy rain, and all the teams put on water tires immediately to set up time to secure their positions. However, the rain lasted for less than ten minutes and then it cleared violently. In addition, the cars on the track that had been using rain tires for lap times were driving non-stop. With only 10 minutes left in qualifying, the track was already dry. Speed replaced the car with dry tires and started the race again, and the qualifying results also turned around.

 

 

SpeedLine's team wins

In the 1.6T group, the Xinli Kinetic Team, which SpeedLine cooperated with for the first time this year, performed steadily. The participating drivers Zhang Zi'an, Ye Deming, and Song Zhiwei were all able to squeeze into the top ten, achieving important scores for the team, and winning the team championship for two consecutive rounds.
